The American Hungarian Family Society (or Hungarian Club for short), was founded in 1919 after several families migrated from German Occupied Austria-Hungary and settled in Bloomington, Illinois. The club was established for the members and their families to have a place to gather to celebrate their culture and to learn about the customs of their new country (USA). Many of the current members are decedents of the original founding members but membership is now open to the public.
The American Hungarian Club’s bar is open to the public and features tvs, video gaming, shuffleboard and more. They also rent out the bar or upstairs space for private events and host an annual Hungarian Sausage Supper.
